I am an economist and a political scientist. In my research work I seek to better understand how institutions work, how they interact with each other and what effect can they have on the political process and, ultimately, in people’s lives. My research has a neo-institutionalist approach and concentrates on systems of government and the democratic process.

I also consider myself an educator. I have taught BA and MA level seminars in German universities as well as given seminars in other professional education institutions.

I also consult small and medium companies on how to establish a stable, effective and long-term presence in international markets, especially in Latin America and Western Europe. The core idea is not just to mitigate political risk but manage it effectively.
